If only it were warmer....

If only it were warmer, I think we'd just drive this boat right on down to the lake and jump on in!

Over the weekend we ventured to a lake a couple hours away to test drive a boat we were interested in purchasing.  The good thing...we know the person we bought it from, the drive wasn't too long, and the boat?  Well, it made the whole 'freeze your butt off' rather worth it!  We actually weren't the only ones out on the lake either.  If you love the lake, the weather doesn't matter.  However, wetsuits do!  We scrambled to find life vests for the kids since most of ours are still at the lake house and hoped jackets would fit over....
Turns out we all really, really like the boat and it is just what we need for all of us to fit comfortably at the same time.  There's plenty of head room for the tall folks in the family (only 2 right now but more soon to follow I suspect), Parker can be on the boat now too without seeming like he is constantly in the way.
(it was minutes later after we flew around the lake that Jacob decided he really DID need his winter coat on.  I told him so!)
There's plenty of storage including two 'closets' directly in front of the driver and passenger.  Eric, Luke and Laurel can each fit in the closets and they think it is very funny.  Not that we'd actually let them stay in there but the idea sure has crossed my mind!  All the above is probably more important to my mom and I then it is for Bill and my dad.  Yeah, I think the nimble handling of the boat and the speed potential were more on the top of their list!

The man we bought it from gave us an example of just how nice the boat handles by slingshotting us around a buoy.  He literally headed right at the thing and turned so tight around it that if we had our wits about us (and the nerve) we probably could have touched the buoy while he was making the turn.  The kids thought it was down right hilarious!
With the water jet engines (just like a  jet ski) the boat can nearly turn on a dime!  After only knowing the steering/turning capability of an inboard/outboard motor, this boat is going to be a lot of fun!  I can just see it now....the kids flying off the tubes way easier than before!  We trailered it up, made our payments and headed back towards home-
The next day the big boys uncovered it and spent hours looking through every nook and cranny, checked out the engines, took note of what was needed to pass a boat inspection....you know, guy stuff.
We're having a naming of the boat competition so we'll see what creative names the kids come up with!  Should be interesting!  Until it's warm enough to even consider taking it to the lake, we'll just have to look at it all covered up and think of all the fun awaiting us!
