Honor Roll and Bday celebration......how about a 1 pound burger to go along with that?

There are many times throughout the year when we, as parents, can't quite come up with the right way to tell our kids how proud we are of them.. Of course we tell them and praise them with words, but sometimes, they deserve more than words.  And I refuse to let toys be the answer.  The one thing that is a special treat for our family because we don't do it very often is a meal out to a restaurant.  Sure, we do Panda Express and Dion's...but rarely do we eat in the restaurant. 

When the boys made honor roll in November we told them we'd take them out to a special dinner.  Sadly, it has taken us THIS long to find an evening to get out.  So we combined it with a Happy Birthday Dinner for Eric.  Gregory seemed to think it was unfair, but we told him to get over it quick or he could stay home.  He got over it quick.

Where did we take them?  To a place that serves up some really good burgers...and big burgers too!  Fuddrucker's....oh how we love Fuddrucker's.  We decided to let E, L and L order their own kids meal-totally reasonably priced at just $2.99 for a good size burger, fries and a cookie.  Totally healthy too, right?  Sheesh.  And the rest of us?  Well, we ordered two 1lb burgers and split them 4 ways.  And can I just say those burgers were HUGE!  The buns?  Even bigger......

G and J were happy as clams to put whatever it was on their half...onions, lettuce, that nasty melted nacho cheese concoction.  Laurel and I said it smelled weird!  They dove in with wild abandon-notice the cheese on G's cheek?

 They finished with a little less enthusiasm, but finish their 1/2 lb they did! Gregory was pretty darn full and his face says it all-

Jacob wasn't sure he could do it....this, the child who now takes TWO sandwiches to school and complains constantly about being hungry.

But he somehow managed to squeeze it all in.

After we finished licking our plates and fingers stacking up our empty burger baskets, we made our way across the parking lot to the movie theater.  Not to see a movie though.  Nope, we were going to check out something we had been told about by friends but had yet to see ourselves.  A photography advertisement that used one of our family photos!!  The kids thought it was pretty neat to see this in the lobby of a big movie theater.  So did we!

It'll probably never happen again so we think it's very fun that they chose one of our family to highlight their business!  We do love our Kim Jew photos-

It was a very fun evening of catching up on promises and celebrating successes, measured both in grades and in another year older.
