We had a really nice...LONG...Christmas day. The kids all decided to sleep in the same room and the older boys managed to keep the kids in the room until 6:45ish. That was the first miracle of the day! They padded down the hall to our room and Bill teased them, telling them to get into our bed and go to sleep for a while longer. Yeah, that went over like a lead balloon!
Santa was good to the kids, bringing them each at least one thing on their wish list. Luke got a Zhu-Zhu pet and a new bike
Laurel got a collection of Littlest PetShop animals and a new bike also-
Eric got his long barreled Nerf gun
Jacob was thrilled to open up a Halo Lego Set and some Tech Deck skate park pieces.
Gregory was excited to get a set of Tech Deck skateboards and skate park pieces also, along with duct tape. Yep, duct tape.
After opening the Santa gifts, we took a break and ate our traditional Christmas morning almond and cheese strudel...the BEST ever. Can I just say that a jar of almond paste would make me seriously happy? The calories consumed, we moved back to package delivery and opened up gifts from each other. Each year the kids draw names for who they get to be a secret Santa for in the family.
Jacob drew Laurel's name. He got her some Build A Bear clothes for her new panda and a cute cupcake necklace. He wrapped up the clothes hangers and told her to open that up first...trickster!
Luke drew Jacob and got him a set of Tech Deck skateboards-he was happy!
Eric drew Luke and got him some clothes and a skateboard for his Build A Bear kitty. Luke had SO wanted the skateboard when he made the cat at a birthday party.....so he was very happy!
Laurel drew Gregory and got him a Nightmare Before Christmas super cool bookmark that he had wanted....it also serves as a headband for Jack
I somehow missed getting a picture of Eric and his gift from Gregory- the 9th book in the Guardian of Ga'Hoole book series and a cute stuffed Eeyore in a snowflake outfit.
Bill got a car engine code reader...ooooh, exciting!
The kids surprised him with a photo too. Can't believe the younger 2 actually kept the secret seeing as it was taken before Thanksgiving!
Bill surprised me with a new HUGE monitor for my laptop and a new chair! yay, no more stealing one of the kitchen table chairs to sit on!
At the end of all the unwrapping, there was one big gift left with Eric's name on it. It was a box..in a box...in a box..in a box....that sort of thing. Although it is a 'family' gift, Eric was the one most wanting it.
Yes, that is a license plate. No, he won't be driving anytime soon. But learning how to ride a very small motorcycle? Well, yes. Such a boy thing I tell you! Some friends from scouting were selling their Honda kids motorcycle, and there you have this-
They all ran for the garage to see it.......and then of course Bill had to show how it's done, despite being 50 lbs (or more!) over the weight capacity I think!
So after a fast and furious clean up, we made our way over to my parents to enjoy Christmas with them! Luke got his Woody replacement doll....
My mom was super excited to open up and Apple TV! Now she can watch their photos on the TV and sync it with her iTunes. An amazing and totally enjoyable way to waste a lot of time!!
And then we tossed the kids in the garbage......
It was another year, another holiday that we have been blessed with my GG's presence! We are so glad that good health allowed us to all be together. New Year's Wish? Another photo like this next Christmas-
Now to prepare for that New Year. Christmas decorations are coming down tomorrow!

Merry "late" Christmas! I had the best of intentions to send out Christmas cards from Kauai, but...it didn't happen. Guess I'll be working on New Years cards instead! Happy New Year! We love & miss you all! Janet & the gang
