Flashback Friday: The first time they tried rock jumping

We are pretty safety conscious people. We make sure life jackets are buckled, depths are safe to jump in. No head first diving at the lake.  We talk to the kids about what they can expect.

Apparently we were planning WAY ahead for the rock jumping excursion.  About 7 years ahead to be exact.  Turns out the boys liked rock jumping......even without water!!!

At the tender age of nearly 2 and 4&1/2, they embraced their life vests and 'other' flotation devices!

My memory fails me as to why exactly they were wearing life vests in the rocks......worried about a flood maybe....but it's very symbolic to look back and see them wearing those, knowing now what a big part flotation devices would play in our future!!

I think it was us trying to let them 'entertain themselves' while we unpacked from our family vacation to California!  Boy, do I ever miss the days of sweet cherubic smiles and innocent laughter. 

We're off to our second to last weekend at the lake. Maybe we'll find them some more rocks to swim on!
