Polly want a cracker?!

A field trip that comes to you.....how nice is that? Last week, our preschool had 'Exotics of the Rain forest' come to the school. The kids were all very excited...and if you've ever been around 2, 3, 4 and 5 year olds all in the same room......at the same time.....well, then you probably know how zany that can be.

But when you see 2, 3, 4, and 5 year olds all doing this at the same time while listening? Now that is amazing! Any ideas what they might be doing?

Well, besides the obvious of closing their eyes. They were listening to the sound of rain being made by a rain stick. I thought it was so great that they were all listening!! After the intro, the birds started coming out of their cages-

When the docents asked for volunteers, you gotta know Laurel's hand shot up faster than I could blink. She got picked to hold a parrot on a perch. Luke, well, he had NO interest in getting up in front of everyone to hold a silly bird. No siree......

Lucky Laurel got picked a second time to hold one of the really big parrots. Her arm was just about the right size around for a perch!
After the kids oohed and ahhhed over the exotic birds, out came the snakes and lizards and spiders. Oh, and hissing cockroaches. So gross....so, so gross! I convinced Luke it was OK to touch one of the snakes, and touch ONE and only one is what he did...barely!
Funny thing about that, he was touching a bull snake, which we have found in our backyard before.  Several times!

That looks like a lot of fun…wish I had been there. Not a big snake fan, huh, Lukie? Laurel looks thrilled. Such a pretty smile. BTW miss Cari…excellent photography!

Bring Luke out to GG. Garrett will get him over that snake fear in no time.

Laurel, way to be! She looks so cute holding the birds. Love her smile.
