Let's Go to the Alamo

Yes, I am backtracking ALL the way to January.  If I am going to do this, I might as well try to highlight the fun along the way.  So, waaaaay back in January (sure feel it's been more than 5 months!), as we made our way down to Galveston for our family Disney cruise, we stopped in San Antonio.  2 good reasons to do so...

1) Pick up Jacob's new tuba (new used).  The boy was so happy to have his very own, shiny silver,4 rotor valve tuba.  It wasn't cheap, that's for sure, but compared to how much tuba's like it typically go for, it was a great deal!  He now has a tuba at home to practice and doesn't have to rely on a borrowed school instrument.

2) Visit with one of my very oldest friends.  Sanna and I have known each other since kindergarten and only get to see each other about once every other year, so the opportunity to hang out and meet her new baby was too much to pass up.

What do you do when in San Antonio....even if the weather is super cold and windy?  Visit the Alamo of course!  Getting there was sure interesting.  We had to catch a particular bus, one that would take a wheelchair and we weren't sure we'd find one until it finally pulled up.  And did I mention it was cold??

It didn't take too long to wander through since we were freezing and we counted it good that we were at least there!  Let's just say, ummm, some younger members of our party weren't so impressed. But we did get the prerequisite 'in front of Alamo' photo.

We can officially say that we have been there.  I think if I want to actually learn more about the Alamo, we need to go back when it's warmer and with no kids!  We headed back to our warm hotel and Laurel got to enjoy her first time holding a baby.  I'm pretty sure she got her momma's genes......babies make her smile!

After saying good-bye to Sanna, Rand and Maddie, we awaited Bill's arrival (he had been working in Austin for a day and a half, my parents left their car with him so he could drive to us), we got dinner somewhere-oh that's right, we ate in the hotel...they had free BBQ that night-and then attempted another must see San Antonio attraction,  the Riverwalk.

 We walked a LOT that night!  On the way back to the car, the boys found a wee bit of warmth......from a vent in the ground.  Heaven only knows what they might have been breathing in, but they had fun looking silly. Except for Gregory.  Him, look silly?  Surely not!

 The next day we drove on to Houston in our approach to Galveston for sail away day on the Disney Magic.
