Day 20
Tuesday June 14th
Another somewhat laid back day, we could get used to this! We decided to drive up to the northern tip of the Cape Cod Bay. It was such a beautiful drive, with continuous little villages, for lack of a better word, that made me smile with their quaintness. The beauty of it was lost on the kids and I have determined that this is a place to come back and explore WITHOUT kids (I’ll be saying that a lot). There were lots of shops along the way-antique, old bookstores, ice cream parlors, beautiful houses. Although to some it may seem morbid, we have come accustomed to spying cemeteries (my mom works a lot with logging and transcribing burial sites) on our vacations and let me just say, there are TONS of cemeteries along the Cape Cod coast. Old, new, itty-bitty, sprawling, flat and hilly….you name it, there’s a cemetery that will fit it.
Province town is the northern most little town on the cape and my oh my, so, so cute!! It is definitely an old town but it is ‘quaint’ old, not ‘decrepit’ old. Some of the old houses have been turned into 3 or 4 room hotels, the streets are narrow and winding and I can only imagine how crowded it must feel during peak tourist season.
After driving back to the condo, we ate a true TV dinner…Bill fashioned our computers so we could watch So You Think You Can Dance on Hulu. That was fun!!
Tomorrow, day 21we head into Boston!
