Dover Delaware...twins, friends and a meal shared

Day 24
Saturday June 18th

The goal today was to make it to Dover, Delaware. Why Dover? 1 great reason. Actually, I guess I should say 4 great reasons. A friend of mine, a fellow mom of twins, moved from Albuquerque to North Dakota, and then they moved to Dover……the life of a military family right? Lucky for us Dover worked out much better than Minot, ND!!! I hadn’t seen Jennifer since she moved away 5 years ago but you’d never know it-it was like old times walking up and giving her a hug!!
It had been a long travel day and we got to there on the later side, so my kids were never so happy to see hamburgers and hot dogs waiting to be devoured. Of course, the trampoline did call their names a bit more loudly than the food….for a few minutes anyway. The opportunity to jump and yell and be silly was a welcome change after being in the car all day. The heat, humidity and mosquitoes didn’t even bother them! And don't let that Harvard sweatshirt fool you, it was sticky and hot outside.....G just wanted to show it off.....

Bill and I enjoyed the adult conversation with Jennifer and her husband, albeit brief! The kids played some more after dinner-GIRL POWER!! Caroline and Laurel had themselves some good fun dress up time
Luke joined in with some boy power too-
Eric and Claire, well, they giggled and sat next to each other. We joked about prearranged marriage but Chuck wasn’t quite ready to go there!!
Gregory and Jacob…..they listened in to some conversation and then found their spots in the living room and looked very, ummm, teenagerish?

We ended our short visit with hugs and hopes of seeing each other before another 5 years pass by. Bless Jennifer, she sent us on with the extra hot dogs and hamburgers and a container filled with chocolate chip cookie bars. Nothing better than goodies baked with love and a warm hug from a friend. Thanks Jennifer, Chuck, Claire and Caroline for a memorable evening!!

We headed to our hotel where the kids found some creative sleeping spaces.......all in preparation for the drive to Williamsburg!

Cari, I LOVE all the pictures!! Well, the one of Claire & Eric on the bed, not so much!! ;-) We had a fabulous time with y'all, and are still so humbled and grateful that we made it onto your itinerary! It truly was so good to SEE you and your beautiful family again ~ and I, too, hope it's not another 5 years before we see each other the next time. Can't believe your trip has almost come to an end ~ I know you've had a great time, but am sure you're ready for home sweet home too!!
