Day 6: A day of 'stuff' and a Blue Man surprise for the kids

Today was our one ‘down’ day. Yeah, right. Is there such a thing? I don’t think so! We started the day off with a spectacular breakfast (not really, unless frozen waffles, French toast sticks and waffles heated up in the microwave count as ‘spectacular’) at the presentation we signed up to go listen to. If you know about time shares, you know what I’m talking about. It’s the presentation where they try to sell you some highly over-priced package so you can ‘own’ at their resort. Honestly, the only reason we torture ourselves with these things is so we can purchase Disney tickets at a discount. It’s a pain in the butt to sit through but saving $100 on tickets makes it tolerable.

After that, which was only supposed to take an hour-sure, whatever-more like 2-we headed to the outlet mall. So long as there is a Children’s Place or Old Navy, I’m happy, but the kids aren’t! We hit an amazing sale at Children’s Place….shoes for less than $4 a pair after discounts as well as polo shirts and sweaters…score! Thanks to Bill’s mad Craigs list skills, we also got our hands on a pair of kids’ skis and a pair of adult skis too. Basically, it was our kid’s worst day ever-outlet mall shopping and driving! However, we had a fun plan for the evening.

Without them knowing, we made plans to take the kids to see the Blue Man Group. We told them that April said the performers stood out front of the building before the concert so we would go and at least see them and take some pictures. Well, low and behold, when we got there, there were no performers out front…bummer! We took their picture in front of the building anyways and then told them ‘say cheese, we’re going in!!’

Needless to say, we all loved it!
We even got some special treatment, all thanks to Auntie April. She got Bill’s name and Laurel’s name up on the digital ticker that runs messages in the auditorium before the concert starts. Bill was introduced as ‘just an average guy that needs some love. Stand up Bill so we can all show you some love-let’s all tell Bill we love him’!! It was SOOOO funny! Laurel got to stand up because she ‘had a headache’. The audience then tried to help her get rid of it. April said it was random as to whose names they picked……the kids got such a kick out of it!!  Our seats were in the splash zone and Laurel was very worried that paint was going to come from the ceiling...lucky for her that wasn't the case and the only thing we got hit with was a small amount of mashed twinkie...AKA...mashed banana

And the boys asked for an autograph…..this is what they got! Laurel opted out of that one!

It was a late, but very well worth it, evening.  One we hope they'll remember for a long time to come!
