A blue swimmer's badge, doll clothes and 2 silly hats

It's a 'cram it all in' post!  This week has seemed like it was 4 days longer than it should have been and yet it flew right on by.  Weird to think it was only Monday when the mad shuffle of paperwork was started to switch schools.  Definitely feels like it was weeks ago.  Going with that theme, here are a few things that did happen over a week ago.

Gregory has really had to put mind over matter in terms of passing his swimmers test for Boy Scouts.  In order to earn his 1st class rank and receive a few of his merit badges, he HAD to pass the swimming test, which meant he had to swim 75 yards in swim strokes, followed by 25 yards doing the elementary back stroke.  While Jacob was able to complete the task at camp over the summer, Gregory struggled and really had to give himself a pep talk to get it done when the opportunity presented itself at a scout group swim activity.
He did really well and didn't panic.  Granted, I'm not sure any swim coach would call his strokes 'swim' strokes, he did swim the pool length 4 times.
He was VERY glad to have that done and over with!
For weeks now, Laurel has been on task, reminding my mom about how she told her she'd make her American Girl doll, Cassie, some doll clothes.  Reminding us once again that her mind is a trap....when Laurel has something programmed into her head that she really wants, she will NOT let us forget it!  With Laurel's help, my mom made a skirt and long sleeve top for Cassie.  Knowing Laurel, it certainly won't be the last time my mom puts the sewing machine to work for that purpose!
A silly wrap up to the week......two silly little kiddos made some silly little hats their first week of school.  See?
It was the joke  of the week when Jacob put one on his head and said 'Mom, Dad, look what I made today in my advisory period'.  Sadly enough, while funny, it's pretty close to the truth.  Just one of the several reasons we moved the boys to a different middle school!

Sadly, we are off to enjoy our last weekend at the lake this season.  The sad part being the 'last weekend' part.  Boo-hoo-hoo!  The lake house has really come to feel like a nice little get away, a groove we enjoy getting into.  Like all good things, it must come to an end for the summer.  Darn soccer is about to take over our lives......
