Take me out to the rainy ballgame

Over the weekend, Bill's employer sponsored a family night at the local minor league baseball park.  We contemplated going, not going...but in the end packed everyone up and headed to the game.  And stuffed pockets with caprisuns and jacket sleeves with water bottles.  Thankfully no one got frisked!!
I don't know why, but we failed to take any umbrellas with us.  The sky looked ominous before we left but in our haste to get out of the house, the umbrellas were left behind...of course!  Our seats were out in the open....well, 90% of the seats were out in the open actually......and we toughed it out for the light sprinkles.

However, when it started to pour we sought out higher ground and seats under cover.  The game was not busy at all so we made our way up a couple flights of stairs towards the few seats that were under an overhang.  Low and behold, we sat right next to one of the boys' friend's from boy scouts!!
Our family is in no way, shape, or form into baseball.  We don't watch it on TV or follow teams successes and defeats either.  However, the local minor league park has its charm and lure, so the kids were all excited to go.  Although the hopes of catching a pop fly bare handed kept them riveted to the game for 15 minutes  a few innings, the real excitement was over how to spend the $25 baseball bucks we got with our tickets.  Bill joked that he could buy a beer and nearly wipe out that little total.  Seriously, $9 for a beer?  You've got to be kidding me.  I'm glad we don't drink beer, that's for sure.

Nope, food won out big time.  Gregory chose to get a funnel cake, Jacob chose a soft pretzel with cheese, Luke chose a hot dog, Laurel chose ice cream in a baseball hat and Eric chose a funnel cake too.  While I probably would have gone for ice cream in a baseball hat also, Bill went for the biggest thing our money could buy......2 more funnel cakes.  Part of mine went to Luke...Mr 'I'm always hungry' himself.

The game was called at the end of the 7th inning because it was literally pouring buckets of rain.  We ran to our car and got a few good shoe washes out of the 'oops, I purposely accidentally stepped in that big ol' puddle' incidents!!  It was a fun night and served as our once a summer, or sometimes every other summer, trip to the park!

We were supposed to go Sunday night with our small group, but canceled due to the impending rain. We were not as brave as you!

Sounds like quite the adventure. Baseball bucks?! Bonus!

If nothing else, the experience made for cute pics.
