The Journey to SLC

We left home about 8am......an hour later than we were hoping to, but all the last minute stuff added up to more than a few last minutes!  The kids were all ready for the LONG drive.  They were smiling.....
and being silly!
We were still smiling too.....
I failed to take a picture of our arrival when Laurel was having a total and complete meltdown over a tin foil dog.  Arrival time after 10+ hours in the car is never good....

We decided to make a stop at the Four Corners Monument, because after all, how many times can you have kids in 4 different states yet be able to have them hold hands??  The only place in the United States that 4 states touch is at this spot.  Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Colorado can all be touched!  Pretty cool.  The uncool thing?  The monument was under construction and no one could even get close to the area where the corners meet.  Nice timing.

We settled for some oh-so-scenic-photos in the parking lot.  We'll always remember the time we didn't get to touch 4 states at the same time!
As we got closer to Arches National Park, the scenery looked a lot like this along the way......
We are staying in a ski lodge resort, so as we drove up the steep incline into the mountains, we drove through neighborhoods with flabbergastingly large homes that we are very anxious to see when it's light outside!  We are surrounded by ski runs, pine trees, snow and a rushing river right outside our door.  It is beautiful!  Well, at least from what we can see in the dim light...but it sounds beautiful!
We can't wait to see it all in the daylight!

I didn't know Catalena was going with you. How great! Loved the picture of all of them sitting on stumps.
