Father's Day....4 rings, a wallet and a phone

We were in Omaha for Father's Day this year.  We decided to have fun at an indoor water park for the day....the outdoor water park was out of the question since it was cloudy with a chance of meatballs  rain!!  However, by the time the day was over, we came to find that it didn't matter that we went to an indoor park either.

Nate and Mary have a set of twin boys also!  How crazy is that?  And my sis-in-laws name rhymes too!

The day started out great!  We all love a good water park and the kids....including the big one called Dad.......are so happy sliding down slides, riding in tubes,

splashing through fountains

and smiling the whole time!!

The day would have been perfect.  But then it thundered.  And we were all told to get out of the water.  SO we took the opportunity to eat lunch and wait for the cell to pass.  About an hour later we were able to get back in.  Until the thunder and lightening started up again.  Pulled out of the water a second time.  At that point we decided to go home and hang out for a bit, eat dinner and try to come back after dinner.  Well, in the process of gathering and moving all our stuff, Bill's phone and wallet got set down.  We were halfway back to Nate's when we realized it.  Called the water park, told them EXACTLY where we thought they got left...they said 'no, didn't see it there'.  Bill went back in and guess what he found?  his wallet and phone sitting EXACTLY where we told the staff they got left. 

We got back to the water park at 6:45.  Of course there were ominous clouds racing our way.  Of course there were!  We hurried to get in the big slide line, made it up the stairs, had 3 people in front of us.  Eric got to the front, plopped his tube down in the water and guess what?  The lifeguard blew his whistle as LOUD as he could and yelled 'everyone out of the water'.  Nice, just perfect.

The next 45 minutes were spent with the kids playing with water balloons, sidewalk chalk, hula hoops and bouncy balls.....all in hopes they'd open the water rides up before they closed for the night.  I asked one of the guards there how common it was to be called out of the pool THAT many times in a day and she said 'oh, really rare'.  Do you think the front desk would do ANYTHING, like let us come for a half day the following day since the park had been closed more than it had been open for the day AND it was Father's Day?  Nope. 

I had brought shampoo and changes of clothes for everyone, figuring we would close the place down, so the kids all showered and got all changed, we headed out and guess what?  One pair of shorts was missing.  We didn't discover it until the next day when Catty asked 'do you have my rings?'  I had put them in a pocket of a pair of extra shorts.  Usually I put them in the camera bag but we didn't bring it that night.  Sheesh......what's the luck that we I misplace 3 things in one day?  For me, it was very uncharacteristic.  So, first thing the next morning I called, asked about the shorts (which should have been exactly where they got left since there was only one other family left with us at the end of the day) and the answer? 'No, we don't have them'.  Of course they didn't.

Long story short, we went back and looked, no luck.  I called when we got home from vacation just on a whim and guess what?  The shorts had miraculously suddenly appeared.  My sister in law went BACK to the park and picked them up but the rings were gone out of the pocket.  I feel so badly and Catalena has been ever so gracious about it.  I bought her some replacement rings but there are 2 rings I cannot replace as they were worth more sentimentally. 

So, word to the wise......if you ever go to Cocoa Keys in Omaha, be sure not to lose anything because the staff will not be able to find it, no matter how obvious.  And if it looks the least bit like rain?  GO to a movie instead!
