The Burger Boys...all about the Pastrami

Mid-way through our SLC trip, I called my friend Heather to check in on her. You know, to make sure she was still sane.  She and her family had driven ALL the way to New Hampshire!!  Her family includes 6 children....all younger than mine!  Thankfully she still had her wits about her and told us we HAD to eat at this certain restaurant and eat a pastrami burger and some fry sauce, just for her.  They had lived in SLC for a brief time and the burger and sauce were 2 of the things she missed.  Or as she put it 'the only things she missed'!  I told her 'we can do that for you'!!

On our last day in SLC, we hunted down the restaurant...

we're wondering if it's the same one they ate at since it was very close to where they had lived......walked in and had quite a number of choices to make.  First one being, could we resist the urge to order their milkshakes.  The menu offered over 25 different flavors/varieties, but when we added up how much it would cost to get enough shakes to share, well, that was enough right there!  Traveling as a large family does have it's sad moments.....sniff, sniff....no milkshakes!!  Having to settle on food orders for 6 kids and 2 adults didn't present many other happy moments either.  Second choice.....what kind of burgers to order.

Of course we ordered the pastrami burger.
The rest opted for plain Jane cheeseburgers.
We ordered some fries and the sauce.   You can see the sauce before being mixed, lower left hand corner.  MMMMMM good.  Completely NOT good for us, but totally yummy.  My guess is the fry sauce was a combo of mayo and BBQ sauce-it had a good kick to it and the BBQ sauce covered up the mayo nicely.  It had to because eating mayo by itself is just pretty darn revolting!
We all left with full tummies and gave the experience a 'thumbs up'.

Thanks Heather for the suggestion!!

Cari, you don't strike me as someone who would be brave and try something like that. If I remember correctly, you are a "selective" eater. Way to go! I bet that was neat for your friend you followed her advice.

We traveled with four kids and felt the pain of purchasing so much food out and about. I can only imagine adding two more people to the mix.

Cute pics.
