When G and J were small, we started the tradition of making banana splits on Christmas Eve. Suffice it to say, we didn't carry on the tradition for long. It took us only a year or two to realize that there was just way the heck too much to handle on Christmas Eve, let alone making banana splits. And that is how the new tradition started....banana splits on New Year's Eve! Much more manageable.....although Jacob looks a bit worried......
This year Catalena was able to join us. We enjoyed the whole nine yards....banana splits, dancing like crazy nuts, a game of Life and then crashing at 10 pm. First, the banana splits-
Luke didn't take long to show up with an empty bowl-
She finished it all up. For Laurel, that is no small feat!
After all the gluttony, we of course chose to dance it off. Actually, the kids danced-I just video taped and took pictures.
The last event of the evening was a game of Life. It ended up being an 'attempted' game of Life. We only lasted 15 minutes and decided it was time for bed. For all she has been through and for as much as we have on our plates already, we are so thankful to have Catalena in our lives and a part of our family. I hope that 2010 will be a bit like the game of Life....twists and turns, fun and laughs and ultimately a path that leads us safely to where we should be. With each other!

Sounds like a fun time! We played Band Hero And Mario Party (Wii) and all of us (even Ben) stayed up until midnight.

That is a REALLY fun famiy tradition...especially with so many kids. We might have to take your idea for next year! Happy 2010 to you and yours!!
