Let the games begin

And so it's begun...the official first games of the season, soccer games that is. Now that L and L are bigger and naps are no longer a part of the Saturday soccer juggling schedule, the games are pretty easy to enjoy. Well, except for the part when we get beat big time. Which happens more often than I'd care to say.....and we are used to it. BUT, the big BUT (no, not mine), is that the kids really enjoy playing the game together....even if they are getting squashed.

Eric's team has met with more success than G and J's team, and today was no exception. Without going into some long, boring soccer explanation I'll say that E's team is playing up a year (they are playing kids a year older than they are) and this is also the first year for them to play goalie...scary times....especially when you see your son doing THIS when he is goalie:

In all fairness, the ball was no where close to him. But it was this time-and this timeThe team won their first game playing 9 year olds and playing goalie by 6 goals!! Eric scored one himself and I missed it.....hopefully there will be more of those in the coming weeks (scoring goals, not me missing them!)

G and J's team, well, let's just say the first game of the season was against at team that is notorious for creaming the opposition by a large margin. And they pretty much did...10 to zip. However, Bill talked to the team and asked if the other team got up on them by too many points did they want to call it or keep playing, and they voted to keep playing. Some coaches fail to remember this is RECREATIONAL soccer, not competitive soccer....sigh.....here's Gregory giving it the boot-G with J in the background-Jacob fighting for the balland not so happy when they kept racking up the points-They did find something to laugh about though and I loved this little moment they sharedA good day all in all!!
