Joseph went AWOL, Mary missed him

The Christmas pageant at preschool.....always expect the unexpected, especially from your own children. Luke was supposed to be Joseph. I'll just say that when he got a look at all the parents pouring in from outside, scurrying to get their seats, that's when he decided stardom wasn't for him. The tears started and they didn't stop until he knew he was safely out of a job-the job of playing Joseph. He didn't even want to put on a shepard's costume!! And I can't blame him. There literally must have been about 150 people crammed in the sanctuary of the church. I'm surprised more kids didn't bail!

You can see Laurel right in the middle, bottom row in above picture.
There were 6 classes in the pageant, about 60 children and of course all the parents to go with. Laurel seemed to do fine and willingly got in her costume, stood in her spot and sang her little heart out.
Luke watched from the audience and provided moral support. He had to since Mary (played by Catherine, one of the twin girls of my friend Heather) perhaps missed him. Catherine had a sweet little lullaby song to sing to baby Jesus (2 lines) but the audience pressure got to her too. It was more of a silent lullaby to Jesus...bless her heart!! They all had a lot of singing to do anyhow. The songs included Away in a Manger, Hark the Herald Angels Sing, We Three Kings, Jingle Bells, We Wish You a Merry Christmas and Feliz Navidad.
This is my class!
And the only proof that Luke was actually in attendance-

It was very memorable and fun......somehow I doubt Luke will be asked to be Joseph again though!
