Make that Sandhill cranes? We see them by the hundreds this time of year, along with Canadian geese. They love the recently harvested corn fields just across the road from us. In the morning, we can hear them calling as they fly overhead and then converse in the fields. My friend Heather and her family came over Sunday morning and we walked over to the fields to watch them. Granted, 7 kids and 3 adults walking toward them are bound to scare them away. This is a path along the bosque. The river is to the left through many more trees and brush. In the summer months, the ditch you can see is usually filled with water and land owners can use the water to irrigate their property if they own water rights.

It's hard to make out in this picture, but there were lots of cranes flying by and the mountains made an amazing backdrop.
'The girls' (Chloe was up ahead ).....Laurel really likes to be with the girls and perhaps she's found a 'big sister' in friend Madelyn. She's got to make up for the girl deficit in this family some how!

Cari, thanks for posting this! My mom LOVES to see the cranes and was just commenting that she hadn't seen any yet. I'll have to let her know so she can watch for them, perhaps I'll send her to your neck of the woods to look! She works in Corrales and usually has them in the fields near her patients house.
Laurel is so precious with all the girls! When Heather's boys get bigger, you guys will have to swap kids once in a while so the boys can have boy time and Laurel can have her much deserved girl time! :)
